...THE ADVERTISER 26th JULY 1949...
PAGE 3....
Please note the highlighted penultimate paragraph. There were two phone numbers described as being from 'suburban subscribers'.The issue of telephone numbers has been covered numerous times by this blog, in fact, we were the first to raise the matter of just what number may have been it is believed to be C7407.
This was first published here in March 2020 almost 2 years ago, and then reposted with additional information in April of this year, you can view the complete posts with newspaper clippings and references to the Commonwealth Investigation Service, Adelaide Branch.

THE CHANGING FACE OF THE SOMERTON MAN:
In the highlighted area of this post from the Advertiser dated 27th July 1949, you will see that the facial features of the man had altered materially before the bust was made.
This supports the comment made by Paul Lawson in an interview I had with him some 2 years ago when he told me that he had made the features of the man's face not from the body he was working on but from the original post-autopsy images:
On the left is the pre-burial image and on the right is the post-autopsy image.
There is little in the way of similarity between the two and, importantly, the left-hand image is of the face of the man from whom the DNA hair samples were taken and that, it is said, they prove that this man was Carl Webb.
Additionally, the son of Laurie Elliot the man who embalmed the Somerton Man has stated that, following the original embalming, Laurie visited the morgue to 'top-up' the embalming fluids and to keep the body in good condition. You can hear those comments in the Missing Pieces' film clip here:
Let me confirm that the information regarding the second phone number originally came from this blog.
As, indeed, the information claimed to have been found by 'David Morgan' from another blog regarding the fact that the X3239 number was also to be found in Victoria was also first made by this blog some 4 years ago. this is the second time that Mr'Morgan has 'found' information in this way. As a matter of interest, the X3239 number can also be found in Canberra, NSW, and Brisbane.

It's Bonfire Night!
ReplyDeleteRemember the 5th of November. Gunpowder, Treason and Plot!
Do you remember GC? Huge bonfires and amazing fireworks!
The best firework of all was the Catherine Wheel!
Round and Round it went..
Sparks, Fire and Flashes!
All marked its Brilliant Path...
Round and around it went in ever decreasing circles!
Until, with a 'phutt' and a fizzle,
The sparks were no more to be seen!
They'd fizzled out...
And then, like so much flotsam and jetsam,
They went bobbin' away on a receding tide,
Towards a distant horizon..
Never to be seen again!
Des this remind you of anyone GC? Cipher Mysteries trolls perhaps??
Thanks and apologies to Dylan!
Over on the Profs site, I see that you've posted a copy of the ad for the Cottesloe Charles Webb. Liked the free Newspaper link so thought I'd share it:
