In 1987, Peter Wright, an ex MI5 Intelligence officer wrote a ‘tell all’ book about his experiences in MI5 and his dedication to finding the truth about the presence of a ‘mole’ at the highest level in the service.
The book goes into detail about some of the operations and enquiries he was directly involved with with names, dates and events being covered.
‘Spy Catcher’ is a must read for any serious researcher, it provides extremely useful and enlightening information and an insight into the world of Espionage.

A word of caution, reading this work and watching the documentary the tip of an extremely large iceberg, it whet’s the appetite in preparation for a journey whose length should not be underestimated. For those interested I would recommend accessing and reading Guy Liddell’s diaries, all of them spanning WW2 and the early Cold War years. The diaries comprise of some 15000 pages in total, it’s worth the effort and it will leave you with the feeling that you have been thoroughly immersed in the world of Espionage and counter intelligence.
And the Somerton Man Connection?
You will note that the book, the documentary and the diaries contain many references to Roger Hollis later to become Sir Roger Hollis a former Director of MI5. It was Roger Hollis who spent a large part of 1948 in Australia. The documentary also contains a brief but important reference to ‘secret writing’, a term that includes the field of micro writing.
