SOMERTON MAN MYSTERY: THE DUNERA FILES INCLUDES DOWNLOAD NOMINAL ROLL OF DUNERA BOYS + OCCUPATIONS + 8TH EMPLOYEMENT COMPANY PHOTOGRAPHS....

....ADVERTISER NEWS ARTICLE
DECEMBER 14th 1948....

....The article in the image above was the one found by * Clive Turner in his searches from there I was able to find the connection to the Dunera Boys. It is the first notification of the death of Tibor Kaldor (Link to other Tibor Posts) and it kicked off what became an initial  3+year project and which continues today. During this time we were able to find and publish a great deal of information about Tibor and the German, mostly Jewish, men, who were interned in the UK and traveled to Australia on board the DUNERA.

The post includes lists of the internees that arrived including those that landed in disembarked in Melbourne and Sydney as well as a chart of the occupations of the men.

I will keep it as brief as possible and will be adding to the content over the next few days.

An earlier post covered some of the information about the Hay Internment Camp banknotes, here is an additional piece of currency, it's a 5 Shilling coin from Hay. but I believe, after the Dunera Boys time:

These coins were minted in Malvern Victoria by Arendeen & Sons.

Some Pictures of the 8th Employment Company Australian Army:

The 8th Employment Company was formed mainly for ex-internees and 'Enemy   Aliens', Tibor was not a member but another person of interest was and he was   associated with the George Marshall case in   1945. His name was Helmut Hendon.

Some of these images are from the AWM site, others are from various other sources.

 THE DUNERA NOMINAL ROLL
There are a number of texts written about the Dunera Boys and their time in Australia. The link below is to a comprehensive list of names of those who arrived, some disembarking in Melbourne and others in Sydney. Most of the Melbourne men went to 'TATURA' internment camp whilst a smaller number I believe went to Loveday Internment Camp in the Riverland of South Australia, these were generally thought of as the 'hard cases'.

Most of the Loveday German internees had been captured in IRAN and arrived in Adelaide on the Rangitiki, there were 478 men and 16 women and children onboard with the women and children sent to Tatura Internment Camp in Victoria.

The document also contains information on the occupations of these men.

Importantly, many of these men were to later change their names. That's yet another list that I will make available shortly.

Please note that whilst most internees were released by early 1942, according to records, Tibor was not released into Melbourne until 1944.

*(For those not aware, Clive worked with me on a number of projects and did a great job. He is not to be confused with the various trolls that exist in the Somerton Man space who use his name, one,  for example is the Clive J Turner on the Cipher Mysteries blog who is quite definitely not the Clive Turner who worked with me on the various projects. I will leave it to followers to make their own judgments about why someone would do that.)

  1. Here's a very interesting link that dates back to an October 2016 Post, in there is a summation of an interview that I was privileged to do with an old Dunera Boy, 'BERN' plus some fascinating information about TOCUMWAL a major RAAF base that had quite a number of 8th Employment Company men:

  2. Thanks to everyone for another record week. I am very grateful for your ongoing support and realise that the onus is on me to make sure that the information I provide is true, relevant and substantiated wherever its possible. For the record, the dwell time, that is the average length of time people spend on the site when they visit is around 12 minutes. That tells me that you find the content interesting and the feedback I have on the links and downloads I provide support that view. I will keep doing my best. A heads up, as some of you already know there are some changes coming on the website, it's designed to further ensure the privacy of our site visitors. Thanks again!

Did they know that they were related, when on the SS Dunera, or interned together? Probably doubtful.

Are there more pages of the Dunera nominal roll. It jumps from page 399 to 404. My Father Gerhard Kaczynski would be on one of those missing pages.
