THE ADELAIDE SPIES:
The above is a list of agents employed by the SOVIETs in the immediate Post War period and possibly earlier. It has taken from one of the files released by ASIO in the 1990s. For those who have recently joined the Somerton Man conversation and who may be unaware, all intelligence files from the various agencies active prior to 1949, were handed over to ASIO.In July 1947 Australian Military Intelligence received a report that FEODOR NOSOV, employed at the Soviet Embassy as a country representative for TASS, had visited Adelaide in order to set up an espionage team comprising two Soviet Nationals and two Australian-born Russians who resided near Adelaide. NOSOV was known to have visited Adelaide on a number of occasions, professionally losing a watcher during one notable incident
Two of these men were to actively identify and recruit personnel from LRWE, (Long Range Weapons Establishment) at Salisbury whilst the other two were to spy on the developments at Woomera.
Here's a link to the file, it is quite lengthy and well-detailed as you will see..
The issue here is of course, is this the same 'Charlie' as in Carl Webb? Or is it just a coincidence? There have been rumours of a second body for some years and it is only now that on trawling through older posts that I came across some of the work done in 2020. The agent list was in a post dated March 3rd. 2020.
Here's the link to that post.
The names listed at the top of this page would quite possibly be 'cover' names and not the actual names although at least two of them were the real names of the people concerned. The name CHARLIE might be a cover for CARL I am working through the files at the moment to see if we can clarify the man's name.
This may take a little time thankfully I have some help in Adelaide.
You know that Carl Webb isn't Somerton man.
ReplyDeleteNow focus on finding who really is
The evidence certainly points to the strong probability that Carl is not the Somerton Man.
ReplyDeleteThe focus now is not on finding who the Somerton Man was but on what he was. In that process we could well get a good indication of his identity or at the very least we should discover why he had to die.
There is a lot more yet to the Somerton Man story.
