....THE AUSTRALIAN SIGNALS DIRECTORATE THE CODE BREAKERS TEST
....What you see here are images of the face and reverse side of the new Australian 50 Cent coin which has been released today as a unique way of celebrating the 75th Year of the Australian Signals Directorate. An incredible organisation to which much is owed....Incidentally and amusingly from my perspective, they have used tiny lettering and numbers to create 4-level code elements of which are to be found on both the face and reverse side of the coin.
It's a clever code and the ASD has asked those who have the interest to see if they can crack the codes shown and they can submit their solutions to the ASD in Canberra, this could be your chance to become a codebreaker full time.

Here are some larger images so you can see the details more clearly.
The solution starts here in the Queens side of the coin..
If you look carefully you will see 5 small markings beneath the wording. They are Braille symbols, in fact they're the first 5 letters of the braille alphabet. These letters are the key letters of the code.
The code is, I think, a reverse alphabet code.. more to come..
For those interested, here's the ASD web page link which also gives you contact information where you can submit your solution for the codes...

A note of interest, the Australian mint along with many other mints around the world have been longtime users of micro letters and numbers in their designs. In the initial stages, the design work was done entirely by hand and often hidden within images as well as within larger letters and numbers. We have examples of that here on the blog with the Hay Internment Camp Banknotes where you will be able to see just where these 'codes' were concealed.
