SOMERTON MAN MYSTERY

The Evidence The Facts In Detail In Depth

SOMERTON MAN CODE, THE EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE AND THE IMPLICATIONS

'Empirical evidence is the information received by means of the senses, particularly by observation and documentation of patterns and behavior through experimentation. The term comes from the Greek word for experience, ἐμπειρία'

To find the evidence of Microcode took 8 years of study, research, and experimentation.

To expand a little on the definition, Empirical data is the result of observed and recorded experimentation. In the case of the microcode proven to be within the larger letters of the code page and elsewhere, that was shown by using the scientific approach. A specific technique was used involving the use of an inkjet printer, bleed-proof paper, and finally a reactive agent, simple lemon juice. Using the technique we were repeatedly able to show the presence of microcode. This 'experiment' can be replicated by anyone with access to those basic items and they would achieve the same results. That is 'Empirical Evidence'.

Let's go back to the 1949 inquest on the Somerton Man, the 17th and 21 st June 1949 to be precise. But, it wasn't until the 22nd July 1949 that the book, The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, bearing the indented writing of the larger letters of the code was handed in/ Thus the Coroner did not see the evidence of the microcode.

The point here is that had Coroner Cleland seen the evidence of the microcode, his findings would have been significantly different and the investigation would have taken an entirely different direction. As a consequence, the later, 1959 inquest review would similarly have had a far different outcome if, in fact, it would have been held at all.

Had Cleland had that knowledge he would have far more to consider, the outcome would have been significantly different.

What would have happened to the review by Chief Justice Phillips in 1994? We can only guess.

But empirical evidence is not proof per se, the proof would have arrived as a result of Coroner Cleland's fine mind and logical thinking capability, he would have quite naturally reached the conclusion that this was some form of clandestine communication and therefore espionage would be at its heart. If we add to that the evidence from the Boxall copy of the Rubaiyat, the case would be very solid indeed, as it is now.

No amount of reading wikis or following up newspaper articles or searching Ancestry.com will resolve the case of the Somerton Man no more than constant regurgitating of the evidence in the case will achieve anything either.

It needed a seismic shift and empirical evidence to do that and that is precisely what microcode on the code page and elsewhere has provided. There is more work underway and some welcome assistance has arrived.

The question remains though will the answers still prove to be of that much import that to release the truth would even now not be in the public interest? Very recent events could well provide the right climate for such things to at last be made known.

Microcode is now very much a part of the Somerton Man case and, as Jess said 'This goes much higher than the local police'...
