THE SECURITY BLANKET...
A short while ago, I posted information regarding the various Security organisations that were active in Australia during WW2 and the early Cold War years. As many will know, the mid to late 40s were a time of what appeared to be great division Politically and Socially in this country, the activities of the Communist Party at that time caused great concern and it has even been said that the years between 1946 and 1950 was a time when Australia was as close as it's ever been to an all-out Civil War.
RANKED BY POWER... (& Knowledge is Power)
In an effort to sharpen the focus on the forces that were arrayed from our Security services here is a slightly revamped version of the Graph originally posted in that I have ranked the various Australian organisations by 'influence & effectiveness', in other words, who held the real power between 1940 and 1950:
From this graph, you can immediately see just which organisations, in my view and based on reasonably thorough research Military Intelligence, held sway.
A GROUP UNKNOWN
But is there a gap in this graph? Is there another perhaps more secretive group that was the real power behind the throne that was occupied by armed services intelligence organisations?
Such a group had relationships that were forged in battles, they would be intensely loyal to each other and to the Crown. The trust they shared could not be readily broken, betrayal would not be tolerated and would be dealt with summarily. or so one would think. They had worked together throughout the most demanding of times and they had produced results, sometimes employing methods that were, shall we say, not exactly aligned with the Marquis Of Queensberry's rules. It is not unheard of for many WW2 files to have been destroyed 'in the interest of National Security'. A veritable 'Inner Sanctum' perhaps?
IN CLOSING
This post, believe it or not, brings us closer to a solution. Unless and until we have a firm grasp of the way that the various intelligence services operated in those years, their relationships, along with some of their methods and their communication techniques, we have no chance of resolving the Somerton Man case.
In the near future we will have a resolution to put forward, will it be accurate? Will it be believable? Will we be able to substantiate it? Of one thing I can assure you and that's that I, along with some very capable, experienced, and trusted resources, will deliver to the best of our ability. Moreover, the first ones to view the results will be our audience who have faithfully followed this blog almost from its inception.
