...This video, short but very informative, demonstrates clearly that Carl Webb is not the Somerton Man. The ear types are very definitely different.
The implications of this video are about as far-reaching as you can imagine.
DO EARS CHANGE?
On the question of age, do ears change as we grow older?
The short answer is yes, they do. They grow longer which is actually due to gravity! The Cartilage extends and the rate of growth is estimated to be approximately .22 mm per year. As you will notice in the video clip above, the left ear of the young Carl Webb is actually slightly longer than the left ear of the Somerton Man.
Previous Posts About The Ears
There are a number of posts on the subject of the ears here's one that is of interest and I will be posting more on that :
And here's a link to a search query page about the ears:
An update regarding the George Webb family tree. We have now received additional information which is quite extensive and includes links to Western Australia and to Footscray. The information must remain confidential at this time.
ReplyDeleteThe video, in my opinion is proof that Charles Webb is not the Somerton man. I would add that ,that both the shape of the lips, forehead and nose ,that there are some distinct differences. Even discounting for chronological age, the eyes, lips and ears are distinctly different.
ReplyDeleteIf Carl Webb is not The Somerton Man? Are there other individuals who should be looked at? This blog proposed that a Soviet National could be The Somerton Man.
ReplyDeleteThat's correct, there are a few candidates and we had one here. Will be addressing that in the coming weeks. If you have a candidate to put forward, let me know the details and we can follow that up.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of information to hand emanating from this post and one other. The issue of the MTDNA process is examined and questioned by a peer reviewed document passed on to this blog by a new follower, CeeBee.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, this same follower has researched the issue of the embalming process with some very interesting findings that look like providing yet another intriguing aspect to the case.
On the matter of embalming and Laurie Elliot, the man who organised and carried out the embalming process on the Somerton Man, his good name is not called into question here. He was invited by the Police to do the work and he did that work very professionally.
Note that I differentiate between the Somerton Man and the body of the person of whom the plaster bust was made, who may or may not be Carl Webb although it does look that way at present.
Effectively what's being said here is that given that Carl Webb is not the Somerton Man, then who was the Somerton Man? By default this means that we are dealing with two bodies. All things being equal we may shortly hear from the SA Police forensic team which should address the issue of the DNA, the identity of the main in the bust and the matter of the 18 missing teeth.
The so-called “pre-burial” image looks to be of an embalmed person.
ReplyDeleteMy understanding is that the photographs where taken just prior to the bust being made. So we could call them pre bust or pre burial, it's just a convenient way to distinguish the two sets of images, the first being the 'post autopsy' photographs. In a previous life I attended a number of sudden deaths and post mortems but have to admit to not having seen a an embalmed body thus my experience is having seen numerous images of embalmed bodies, not quite the same thing as these were normally posed pics.
ReplyDeleteThere is some work underway in relation to this topic though and there will be a post in coming weeks.
