HOW TO PROCESS THE IMAGES
It really is a straightforward process:
1. The image at the top of the page can be downloaded, it is a high-resolution photograph of the actual book given by Jess to Alf Boxall
2. Print out the image using a reasonable quality inkjet printer, a laser printer uses melted plastic and does not carry the detailed information that we have in the image file. The printer should be set to 'BEST' quality and you should print it out on BLEED PROOF paper size A4
3. Organise a backlight, I use an LED backlight that I bought from Office works, which costs around $80. You can use other strong lights for this step. If needed you can adjust the strength of the light
4. I use a Lumix camera with macro lens to take the images you see here, but if you have a good quality mobile phone you can still get a good result.
5. Try different photo angles and use the flash if that helps.
6. You can then upload the images to your computer and make any adjustments to contrast/brightness, curves, etc to improve the result.
SOME BACKGROUND
Over the years, numerous posts have been published on this blog relating to my firm belief that Alf Boxall and Jess were a handler and a field agent respectively.
This new series of posts show the final proof, the hard evidence that this was the case.
From what I now know and from previously existing evidence from others, I am of the belief that Alf was employed by Australian Military Intelligence and that he would have been recruited for his role whilst he was serving with the North Australia Observation Unit, colloquially known as the 'Nackeroos'. It is a possibility, no more than that, that Lieutenant Colonel Bob Wake who had served in the top end, may have known Alf. Bob Wake was Queensland Director of Military Intelligence during the war years, he went on to become one of the early directors of ASIO on its formation in early 1949.
