SOMERTON MAN: THE 4 TIBOR KALDORS

AUSTRIAN RESEARCHER TURNS UP ANOTHER
THREE MEN CALLED TIBOR KALDOR

Clive has been in touch with an Austrian Researcher who tells us that she has found another 3 males called Tibor Kaldor all of whom are buried in the same cemetery in Wels Austria not far from Linz.

Our researcher has kindly forwarded 2 of the Death Certificates, whilst there appear to be no formal records for the 3rd man apart from a headstone which bore no date of death.

The forms below are being translated as I write this but what we can see is that both were signed by the same man a Dr. Dreseler. You can also see that the reference numbers at the head of each form are different:

3631/34.856  and 3635/34.890

The dates of death are:

22nd May 1945 and 27th May 1945 respectively

TK 1

TK 2

Perhas you could say this is posted a little prematurely but it does add more to the mystery surrounding Tibor Kaldor. If you recall we recently found that the University of Vienna had no record of his having attended there which conflicts with his claim of having a PhD from Viennna. A commenter suggested that he may have simply fudged the name of the University to impress, and that is being chased down now.

Could it be that these two men of the same name died within days of each other in the same location? Yes, that's possible of course, the sad passing of a father and son perhaps, although it does sound unlikely. But for now we have yet another question about Tibor Kaldor. More to follow once the forms have been translated.

  1. I assume these are the 3 Tibors:

Although the 2 that have death dated May 1945 were added in 2008, it would appear the one with unknown details was only added 29/01/2017. Might be worht contacting "Charlotte" to see whether there's any more information there...(and she's done a virtual visit on the other two the same day)

  2. So Kaldor in Adelaide was 44 in 1948. At least one of your Kaldor's is born 1904....
Would be interesting to find whether we can trace any of them starting in Hungary, eh?

I find some of this peculiar because the records only seem to appear in (what I consider) pretty obscure sites, and are harder to find in more mainstream places...

  3. And (with very little detail) a holocaust survivor....

  4. sorry for the continual posts (I'll stop after this one)....so we have:
Your original TK Born 9/06/04, Jacoby Born 9/08/04 and one of our newest ones at 09/04/04.
Don't know about you, but that seems a fair coincidence that they're all born on the 9th of the month (although I could imagine 9/6/4 getting mixed up in scrawled writing - not so much 8, I suppose).

Also: Touch of irony in your earlier reference to the "Three Kaldors" from the UK??

    1. Yes, the irony did strike me. A most unusual set of circumstances, best not to leap ahead of the logic just yet. Further information is hopefully on its way.

There is a high degree of sadness just reading through some of these links, goodness knows just how painful it must have been for the victims and for those left behind and for some, still is.

In some ways the Tibor Kaldor aspect has taken on a life of its own, new information keeps arriving on a regular basis. What it all means is not entirely clear at this stage for me at least and I would be fairly certain that you and Clive may well have the beginnings of the answer already formed.
