It's been a funny old year or three here on the blog, everything we thought we knew about the Somerton Man has been turned upside down.

When this latest dig into the files started, I honestly thought this was just going to be polishing up a few rusty facts using some fancy modern technology. I couldn’t have been more wrong. 

The accepted history of the Somerton Man hasn’t just been polished up, first I took a king sized drill to it to break up the surface and then I dug deeper and wider. 

Since December 1st. 1948 everyone has been told the same old yarn or variations of it, a mysterious bloke, probably sad, wanders onto a beach to end it all. 

But around 3 years ago, crunching the hard data began, tidal patterns, photogrammetry, timelines and a whole lot more that fell well outside but in addition to some of the posts you’ll find in this blog. 

A New Pair of Specs 

The biggest find this year wasn't a dusty old witness statement or a surprise DNA cousin. It was something far more fundamental. It’s some specific, verifiable scientific facts that completely change the game of the Somerton Man Mystery. 

I’m not about to spill the beans on the specifics just yet, I have to save the really juicy bits for the book, but I can tell you what it does. 

The Forensic LENS

For 77 years, we’ve been staring at the clues, the clothes he wore, who saw him and when, the undisturbed sand, that half-smoked cigarette, the suitcase and the list goes on. The truth is we have been wearing completely the wrong 'prescription glasses'.

When you look at it in the old established, time worn way, none of it makes much sense. It’s a jumble of contradictions and anomalies.

However, when you slap on a new pair of specs, when you view that exact same evidence through a new and very different 'Lens', suddenly, snap! It all starts coming inexorably into focus. The impossibly complex and often conflicting situations, suddenly become incredibly logical. 

A chaotic mystery, drowned in a thousand conspiratorial theories and claims that never stood up to informed scrutiny, resolves itself into a completely different and oh so clear picture.

What was a classic 'Islands of truth adrift in an ocean of ifs, buts and maybes' becomes cold hard facts.'

I’ve gone back and re-examined everything in the spotlight of this new perspective, and the results are absolutely game-changing.

In fact it’s not the same game at all. 

Digging the Foundations 

Before we discuss the significant revelations , (plural), in the book, the past few years right here on the blog has been about research, more research followed by discovery after discovery. The time spent has been about laying the forensic foundations. 

What’s been found will shock and surprise many, if ever anything was described as out of left field, this is it. The discoveries made fall well and truly into that category, most importantly every discovery comes with citations, everything is backed up by trusted 3rd part source materials. They are the witnesses. 

The Book

Where does that leave us? All these new threads, the hard and proven forensic facts we’ve dug up here, and the revelations revealed by the ”LENS", converge in the upcoming book. 

This is not a re-hash or regurgitation of old theories. It’s a complete tear-down and rebuild of the case from the sand up. 

Right now, the manuscript is in second reading, It’s become a substantial work. We’re looking at roughly 90,000 words, spread across 7 sections. And over 60 chapters. The Book comes replete with a full Bibliography and a detailed Index

The book and it’s contents have been designed to talk you through the whole breathtaking saga of the Somerton Man Secret, step-by-step with surprises when and where you least expect them.

What’s Next?

Those visuals you’ve seen on the blog recently? The tide animations, the composite photos? Think of those as the appetizer. The main course? The how, and the who for sure, and just maybe the why, that’s all in the book.

We’re in the home stretch now. It's not about the story you think you know. It’s all about to change dramatically. The Book is on its way. Stay tuned!
