SOMERTON MAN MYSTERY

The Evidence The Facts In Detail In Depth

NEW PHOTOGRAPH OF THE SOMERTON MAN...

The image that you see here, is in my view the best artist's impression that I have seen, It is realistic and it shows a very close resemblance to the post-autopsy photograph of the Somerton Man

Having spent some 15 years researching the Somerton Man mystery with 11 of those years writing blog posts on the subject. I have seen numerous artist's impressions of SM, in fact, I have made a few attempts at it myself. but nothing compares to the image you see here on the right.

Below is a comparison image for your reference:

What the artist, Teresa Cowley, has cleverly done is to reduce the post-mortem 'bloating' that is evident in the post-autopsy photograph and added some finishing touches around the eyes, it really is quite exceptional work.

You can find more versions of this image on Teresa's blog page here:

Teresa describes the technique she used which included some AI and I should point out that her posts were from more than 3 years ago. For the record, she also posted that she created this image with due respect which is to be applauded

I have searched the web for a similar image with a negative result.

Here are other past artist's impressions of the Somerton Man:

The image on the left was by Danial Coshart who was commissioned by Professor Abbott, the image to the right was also commissioned by Professor Abbott, I do not know the name of the artist concerned.

Here's another image from Danieal Voshart compared to the post-autopsy photograph of the Somerton Man:

  1. That's fascinating, she seems to have captured the features of how the man could have looked, the removal of the bloat looks to be about right, hard to judge of course but she does have a reasonably good reproduction here. No sign of anything like him elsewhere amongst the files?

  2. I thought her work was exceptionally good in comparison to others but I agree it's really hard to make a judgement. Searching the image files right now but nothing to report as yet. If we could get a close match that might put us on a track worth following. I started with known Soviet operatives but of course there's no guarantee that they would have images available and if they did, was it really of the person with that name? Still, it's a starting point, this could take a while.
