...UPDATED IMAGES & INFORMATION DECEMBER 5th 2022...

This post came about as a result of researcher Peter Davidon's efforts in finding the man Charles Richard Webb.

The first image shown here today compares the man Charles Richard Webb, with the photograph of the man, said to be the Somerton Man, taken shortly before Paul Lawson made the plaster bust based on that corpse. Paul is on record stating very clearly that in shaping the facial features of the bust of the man, he had to use the original Police photographs that were taken of the Somerton Man on December 3rd, 1948. He also clearly stated that he had difficulty shaping and molding the ears due to the advanced decomposition of the man's features.

1. PRE-BUST COMPARISON WITH CHARLES RICHARD WEBB

In the image above you will note that the left ear of Charles Richard Webb appears a little different in shape from that of the Pre Bust Image on the right.

The same can be said of the man's right ear which, similarly, does not quite match that of the pre-bust image.

But, we must bear in mind Paul Lawson's comments regarding the condition of the man's features and the fact that the photographs were taken at different times and at different angles with different lighting.

CHARLES RICHARD WEBB

A DIFFERENT PLACEMENT:

When examining the images above you will note that in the image of Charles Richard Webb, the left ear shape is different from that of the Pre-Bust image.

To further complicate matters, it also appears different from the shape of the left ear of the Somerton Man's post-autopsy photograph, but again we must take into account the variations in camera angles and lighting.

Webb's mouth seems less wide than that shown in the Somerton Man Post-Autopsy photograph and in fact closer to that shown in the Pre-Bust photograph.

Webb's right ear appears similar to that shown in the pre-bust photograph.

THE REAL ISSUES

With so much misinformation and wild guessing in the Somerton Man case at this time, I thought it would be of help for the genuine researchers to put a very straightforward table together that would compare the basic, unquestionable information. Yes, people will continue to guess and gossip that seems to be the very nature of some blogs and forums. Time to get real.

AT THIS TIME WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE SOMERTON MAN, THERE IS NO KNOWN DATE OF DEATH FOR THOSE LISTED ABOVE.

WILL THESE ISSUES BE RESOLVED WHEN THE POLICE FORENSIC TEAM RELEASES ITS FINDINGS?

THREE THINGS COME TO MIND:
1. Paul Lawson's Diary Entry regarding "...disposal of the original body"

2. Newspaper articles quoting people who had seen the body saying that he looked quite different from the photos in the earlier newspaper articles

3. Detective Superintendent Des Bray made the comment that the body was in very good condition when exhumed and that was after 72 years in the ground. Yet when you review the post-autopsy images and the pre-bust images of supposedly the same man, there is a massive difference and that was just a matter of 7 or 8 months.

IS IT THEN POSSIBLE THAT THERE WERE TWO BODIES?

We draw your attention to the original publication date of November 27th, 2022, and to the fact that the original information and photographs came from researcher Peter Davidson

  1. I read with interest or should that be incredulity, a comment made by recent arrival on the Somerton Man forums, David Morgan. On the Pete Bowes blog, David stated that he had done an analysis using AI tools of the faces of Charles / Carl Web and the faces of the autopsy photos and the face on the plaster bust. He went on to arrive at his conclusion that Charles and the man on the beach were therefore the same person.
I noticed two things, firstly he had not matched Charles to the face of the pre bust image and that he, in his detailed analysis using artificial intelligence face matching tools, had overlooked the fact that the face on the bust was modelled by Paul Lawson using the Post Autopsy photographs of the man found on the beach. Sadly this makes David's claim baseless.
David, if you want to be seen as an expert in this case, you have to be thorough and you have to be credible. On this occasion you were neither and your fledgling credibility has suffered significantly as a result.
