SOMERTON MAN MYSTERY

The Evidence The Facts In Detail In Depth

SOMERTON MAN IDENTIFIED: THE ROY WEBB IMAGES COMPARISON

THE COMPARISON....

The Somerton Man post-Autopsy image full face 1:

Profile comparison:

The quality of the Roy Webb image is not the best, so my apologies. I should also point out that photographs are notorious for misinterpretation.

Having said that at least in these images, the ears look quite different in shape The hairline is very similar and Roy had just had a short back and sides military haircut, a basin cut.

The description given by Professor Abbott states that they had similar eye colors with Roy having hazel-colored eyes but in the University wiki for the Somerton Man his eyes are grey. Hazel is a combination of green brown and gold.

We are also comparing a younger Roy Webb with what is as yet to-be-proven an older Carl Webb

  1. Ok, I'm going to put this out there - doesn't that image of Roy Webb look like its had a face superimposed over the top?

  2. No, that's a lighting effect which causes that. The pic was taken around 1939 I think.

  3. I have to disagree on that point. Are there any other photos of Roy Webb?
It clearly looks like a mask.

    1. Minimum identification by looking down to conceal eye detail is an indication that it is a mask

    2. The head is more or less straight on to the camera but the face is slightly off line so highly likely an image doctored by a mask

    3. You are perfectly entitled to your view on this and I have no problem with that notion. Have tyou tried an online photo forensic analysis? Here's a link for you to try out:
      https://fotoforensics.com/upload-file.php

This tool can quickly show variations in an image including any changes made. I have tested it out, see what you think. There's a new post on the issue of identification.

  4. Sure, if you Google ABC and Carl Webb, you'll find a number of links, select the images tab under the search/URL box. There will be quite a few images there..

  5. Are you a photography expert Gordon ?

  6. I wouldn't consider myself an expert per se. I have over the past 12 years taken a number of courses and have learned a great deal from them. I have some good friends who are experts though and I generally refer to them for advice before I publish here. And you?

  7. As a genetic genealogist it is pretty clear that all evidence points to Carl. Perhaps you just want the mystery to continue. You also cannot use images to perfectly identify a person, especially of differing ages. Too many variables.

  8. Well, welcome, so what are your qualifications, where were you qualified and when, and more to the point what experience?
You should understand that I do not take what I say lightly and I verify with some well qualified colleagues on most occasion's. Here's part of a discussion held recently with one such friend and it is to the point:

'I read the Prof's article and I'd like more details on which SNPs were sequenced and which were imputed. The accuracy of each SNP's imputation will depend on how close it is to the target SNP on the particular chromosome. Ancestry does an amazing job with only 1/1000 of the genome but you must have regard to chromosomal crossing-over which is directly determined by the distance apart of the 2 SNPs and determines the imputation accuracy. All the genomics companies specify this accuracy in their reports when they are not dealing with Whole Genome Sequencing.'

Can you understand this or should I get a layman's version for you?

  9. The guy is a media tart, I think it's the third or is it the fourth set of claims he has made. Tomorrow nights SBS thing is a regurgitated movie from 18 months ago. The Astrea mob haven't published anything on their site for almost 12 months. Did they ever answer your enquiries?

  10. One last point here for you and those who share your web abode. The aim of this blog is to see the Somerton Man story brought to a conclusion. Not a conclusion based on deviousness, fantasies and the half truths of delusional self promoters, but based on facts and real unshakeable evidence. In other words and simply put, it’s about finding the real truth.
