THE WORKING COPY:
As the title above the image suggests, this is the actual working copy, the one which I have been using to examine in detail what is to be found on the two pages of the Alf and Jestyn copy of the Rubaiyat.
As you look through the images below you will see that there is an astounding amount of information contained on both pages plus on the outer book cover edges and the apparent vertical lines. One of those lines lies close to the left-hand edge ear the cover and the other lies down the centre of the two pages.

I have highlighted the grapes and very clearly you can see the presence of micro written characters, beneath the first image I added the pre-marked version for comparison:
Next, let's look at the two words THE RUBAIYAT:
