SOMERTON MAN: A 1941 COPY OF WHITCOMBE AND TOMBS RUBAIYAT

1941 RUBAIYAT

This is an advisory post, I have been fortunate in that I have been given a 1941 W & T ROK book to examine. It was found by a personal friend and I have undertaken to take a close look and then scan the entire book. It has the name 'Williamson' handwritten on a flyleaf of the book.

If you have an interest in a copy, please let me know via the feedback message function on this blog.

Thanks, Ali!

More posts coming this week, stay tuned :)

  3. Hi Gordon,

I've had no luck trying to get a copy myself, are you still planning to upload this at some point? If so, it'd be very much appreciated.

    Keep up the good work.

  4. Hi Thommo, No probs, there are a couple of copies, one is believed to be the same as the SM book and the other is a higher priced hard back copy. I'll get them on line in the morning my time.

  5. Thommo and all interested, links for two different copies of the Rubaiyat here:

    1. Whitcomb & Tombs: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4FgVwct8qNUQjlpaTNfVjVMeU0/view?usp=sharing (1941) Most like the SM version

    2. Hard back copy: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LoQFK9agIsi9tIFFRlh33HsNmGWFE97/view?usp=sharing (1942) contains the name Henderson in first pages, well known theatrical family and organisers of tours such as Ballet Russe

  6. Thanks for uploading the original Whitcomb version! It seems identical as the SM had.

  7. The 1941 paperback believed to match the SM version has a different cover than the SM version. Although the original SM version was discarded, a photo of the cover still exists.
