Professor Abbot in a very recent UK press article stated that all the ASIO records from the period had been searched and no mention at all of Jestyn as a spy was made.

It's a big statement and I have no reason to doubt that what he has said is accurate. However, ASIO wasn't formed in 1948 it was 1949 when that happened, it also occurred to me that maybe a search for employee/agent records in Military Intelligence files from 1943 onward would have born some fruit. People do choose their words carefully.

Whilst on this subject, The Professor has published an image of Jestyn's note to Alf, noteworthy that it is the most recent image and not the image taken and used by Littlemore which was some 30 years younger and did not show the signs of fading that appear in the newer image. For that reason, and with great respect to Professor Abbott, the newer image is not valid in my view and, by default, that also applies to the microscopic close up video that the Professor took of the verse from the newer image.Gordon332https://www.blogger.com/profile/17690592260936410432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649149095048346117.post-36086995675412847192015-06-02T07:25:01.731+10:002015-06-02T07:25:01.731+10:00Through the war years Australia had a large Intell...Through the war years Australia had a large Intelligence Community composed of units from various countries including the US and UK. As per the Venona stations in Australia, there was a high degree of cooperation and knowledge/skills transfer between the players. I think it more than reasonable to assume that techniques such as Ink H would have been shared by SOE and taught here perhaps even at the Intelligence Unit at Army HQ just a stones throw from the Clifton Gardens Hotel. Remember that we had a number of agents working for SOE in WW2 Nancy Wake comes to mind.Gordon332https://www.blogger.com/profile/17690592260936410432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649149095048346117.post-46593151387584539272015-06-01T17:21:02.558+10:002015-06-01T17:21:02.558+10:00Gordon, would it be safe to assume that these skil...Gordon, would it be safe to assume that these skills were taught in Australia?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
