In ...Thomson/Thompson is not a rare surname at all. In fact it is quite common. The Y-DNA results page you linked to shows that there are in fact several dozen Thompson/Thomson lineages in the US (most presumably of British Isles origin with some smaller number being African-American or Scandinavian) who are clearly not related on their paternal lines. Therefore the fact that there are numerous unrelated Thomson/Thompson lineages in America doesn't mean that any of them is related to Prosper Thomson (and more crucially he would have to be a descendant of an American Thomson/Thompson to have DNA linked to Virginia and the mid-Atlantic coast as well as traces of Native American ancestry).CJHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13832114433926854451noreply@blogger.com
