SOMERTON MAN: TIBOR KALDOR DEATH CERTIFICATES 1945, UPDATED 22/06/18 Translation

TWO TIBOR KALDOR DEATH CERTIFICATES FROM  AUSTRIA 1945

The two certificates above were forwarded by a friend from Austria, they relate to two men named Tibor Kaldor who died in the same hospital within just weeks of each other. Sadly they had both been victims of the Holocaust.

You will note that these documents are in German and I have a translation underway. What I know is that one of these men was born in April 1904, just a little older than the Tibor Kaldor who supposedly took his own life in Adelaide in 1948.

I have posted these as they form part of the story of Tibor, whether there is any connection I really don't know at this time. Now that we have someone on the ground in Austria, perhaps we will be able to unearth more information.

Update 22/06/18. 1800 hrs
The updates are translations of the two Death Certificates for the men known as Tibor Kaldor. We sadly don't know their individual ages or occupations. just writing this post is quite distressing.

  1. JS. Just a quick note, you'll be please do know that I actually read what you have to say, and your latest comment was deserving of a response. Regarding the various intelligence services and their use of micro-writing. As you would know, I have done a series of posts on the subject and this one immediately sprang to mind:

    http://tamamshud.blogspot.com/2015/01/somerton-man-micro-writing-link-to-mi6.html

In it you'll see an example of code on the back of a postage stamp, a Dutch stamp as it transpires, it was prepared by a member of the 'Alice Dubois' spy network, a man named Paul Bernard a Beligian map maker. You'll also see an excellent example of a micro-written intelligence report. The evidence for the use of the technique includes it's mention in an MI6 manual, in CIA documents and at the British Military Intelligence museum. Apart from that there are countless other accounts of its use including quite famously, its use by Klaus Fuchs who used to write his reports to his Russian masters in tiny writing. In fact, even amongst the Somerton Man papers and comments, there is one interesting quote from Detective Brown which he made during an interview with Professor Abbot,'.. the telephone numbers were written in tiny handwriting on the back of the book.'

Who knows, perhaps there will be more on the topic in the near future.

    Have a great day JS.

MILONGAL. Whilst we may not agree, we at least conducted our conversation civily and I thank you for that. Who knows what will turn up next to whet your appetite :)

  2. One of Tibor Kaldor's referees was a Kenneth John Widmer of St.Kilda. We have had some challenges tracing Mr. Widmer but curiously we do have a Lance Corporal K J Widmer who was reported as missing in 1942, Trove link here:

    Hmm, interesting...
