SOMERTON MAN: THE NAVY ARRIVES -THE "Q" REVEALS A SECRET>>

THE LETTER 'Q" REVEALS A SECRET

The Navy Arrives..

Using an improved recovery technique, it was possible to reveal additional details from the circumference of the letter Q. The string of code opens up what may be the truth behind the code page.

You should be able to see the following: 232X RAN 35 XCA notice the space between each grouping.

The key word in here is RAN, for those who don't know, that stands for Royal Australian Navy. Could this be why the 'code' page was sent to Naval Intelligence in Melbourne and not to the Adelaide Military HQ at Keswick Barracks?

Is it more than coincidence that on December 16th 1948, just a short while after SM's body was found, that HMAS Sydney, Australia's first proper aircraft carrier was commissioned in Devonport? The image to the right is of the Sydney in sea trials in early 1949.

Is it also a coincidence that the letters/numbers LZ155G were found on the code page and that was the registration number for a Sea Vampire, the first jet to land on a sea going aircraft carrier?

Another interesting aspect of this latest find is the different perspective that this places on the XCA group. The Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation used to use the prefix CA for the registration numbers of all aircraft produced by them. Most interestingly, they used the prefix XCA for all experimental aircraft they were developing. Consider the amount of development work to be done on Australian produced aircraft to make them suitable for Carrier operations. If you look closely at the letter Q above you will see just the beginnings of more detail following the group and ahead of the stroke through the Q. That detail may give us an aircraft number although it is too early to be sure. Within a few days we should be able to view the letters/numbers hidden beneath the darker areas of the Q.

Ther are many more images to come that show more details of strings of microcode. Some of those letters are still in the developer process, it takes days for the 'bleaching' process to gradually remove the graduated lighter shades from each letter but the results are much clearer than have achieved earlier. Some look very promising and will be released oevr the course of the next few days to a week.

I think it's fair to say that you will be amazed at the sheer amount of microcode that will eventually be revealed through this work.

I have to end on an apology to Lee! I will still post the comparison images you suggested but this particular image and post really couldn't wait. I hope you understand.

  1. That is incredible! This would do credit to any intel group. Bring it on Mr.G! Keep 'em coming! What process did you use for this? I would have thought the bleach would have disintegrated the paper in a day or so?

    1. Good question re the process. Firstly you are absolutely correct in that by leaving the printed out photograph in strong bleach it will certainly 'disintegrate' it, it literally falls apart. The challenge was to find a way to stop that so I used a Heath Robinson rig, all it needs is a couple of glass oblongs, the sort you can find in old photo frames. Then you need a oblong plastic container somewhat larger than the photo of the code and big enough to take the glass pieces.

Next, place one of the, clean, glass oblongs into the, clean, plastic container and add enough strong bleach to cover the glass plate and a little more. Now immerse the photo into the bleach on top of the first glass. Now all you need to do is to put the second, clean, glass on top of the photo. You've just created a glass sandwich with a photo filling :) Now take some close up ics of the complete 'sandwich and leave it for some hours, say 5 or 6. Come back take some more pics at that stage and then perhaps every 12 hours do the same. You can take pics at any stage really just make sure you don't have the container and contents in direct sunlight. The effect is to preserve the original photo paper for quite a length of time, I have one in currently and it's been there for 6 days with many pics taken during that time.
      Hope that helps.

      Have a great day!

  2. I have been a sceptic on this for some time, but not now. The tiny writing is definitely there. Well done.

    1. "DEFINITELY NOT PAREIDOLIA"
      Thanks Lee,
Interestingly I had a note from a friend on the issue of pareidolia. Essentially with the first image of the letter Q that you can see near the top right of this page, I used digital imaging and enhancements to bring out what I could see through the lens of my camera. It resulted in that image of the Q with micro numbers and letters showing. The issue was raised about the pic being a pareidolic image, seeing something that wasn't really there, rather like seeing the face of Jesus in the clouds. My friend then said, "But! when you immersed the pic of the Q in bleach, what the process did was to 'blow away' the clouds and yet the image of the micro letters and numbers were still there."

The conclusion was that the two processes, one digital and the other very much manual' producing the same result had proven beyond doubt that the micro letters and numbers were "DEFINITELY NOT PAREIDOLIA". They are what they seem to be, miniature writing.

Still happy to do the experiment which will happen in the coming week, very encouraged by your comments.

  5. JAZZ:
Let me know when you are ready then send me some examples to a safe email address that I will set up and we can go from there. You will understand that there have been many claims similar to yours and there is a need for caution all round. Having said that if you are genuine then I will help if I can.

  6. Hi Gordon, There was a Hawker Sea Fury aircraft used by the RAN but, it wasn't delivered until May 1949, serial VW232. The results of your work are right on 'Q'-Clive

    1. Thanks Clive :)
If the Hawker Sea Fury was delivered in May, it could have been in the hands of CAC prior to then for adjustments and customisation to RAN specs in which case it may have had the XCA prefix? The rest of the Q should be visible by tomorrow and will publish what I find. There is such a lot more on the page, difficult to know where to start. One of the challenges will be sorting out what is real code and what is cover chaff. Liked your comment on Pate's blog re the scenario. Need to think in terms of this man being a fairly low level courier, deliver the book but don't hand over the key unless you get confirmation of ID from the other party and he would then give over the torn piece. No ID, no book and off he ran but not before he had a drink of tea or water from his hosts. They were going to get that book and its key no matter what. Sorry Pete! Not butting in on your space :)

    1. Jazz,
Always take notes at any meetings and/or record conversations even with the press. Take someone with you if possible to sit in and act as a witness to what is being said. Good luck.

    2. Jazz, A few methods and sometimes combinations. Can you photograph please scan front and rear of pages at high resolution then post as per previous. I will look at them and if I find anything I will respond with the method/s used.

As an interim you could try viewing the pages under UV light, the room should be darkened when you do that. You can take pics under UV:
